Extending the Season
I am not a Christmas person. In fact, I’m not afraid to admit that the only reason I even bother to put up a tree is because I have children. But I do love candles and lights and have taken to leaving the winter garland up on my entry stairs well into the spring as a way to cope with the dark, dreary, bone-chilling winters here Somewhere-in-the-Middle-of-the-USA.
When winter melted into spring last year, spring sped by so quickly that it was July before I caught my breath and realized I still had winter garland up on my stairs. And so I just kept it up all year. As the last of the decorations come down in even the biggest procrastinators’ homes this week, today’s photo is of the winter garland woven with plain white lights that I will keep up through yet another midwestern winter. I make no promises come spring!
