“Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”
~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

This was the first butterfly I was able to capture, just a few weeks ago.  I think I’m getting better!

What do you think?  Do you have a favorite shot in the rapid-fire sequence below?

UPDATE:  Looking at this post again after publishing it, I wonder if I should try to screen back the flower and leaves in Photoshop to help the butterfly stand out more.  I could just scale back their intensity (if I can figure that out in Photoshop) or could convert them to black and white.  What do you think?

  2. It’s a test of patience. I went through the same recently trying to capture a black and white striped one that just didn’t want to light! Good job. You got your reward!

    • Thanks TBM! I really owe all credit to the fact that this particular butterful was really comfortable hanging out there for a few minutes!

    • Thanks so much! I took a ridiculous number of photos of butterflies this year. They are gorgeous creatures, and I’m happy that my skills progressed throughout the year to finally get some shots that did them justice. 🙂
