Peek-a-Boo, Turtle-Style
As I pulled into my driveway last night, I spotted this little guy crawling along, headed toward the shrubs. There was quite a bit of distance between him and the car as I drove past and parked in the garage, but naturally he pulled himself into his shell as I drove past him.
I grabbed my camera and approached him slowly while my daughter ran inside to get him a cherry tomato and piece of lettuce. We placed the food offerings near him and sat quietly at what we hoped was enough of a distance for him to come out of his shell. Mostly he played peek-a-boo, alternating between peeking out at us from completely within his shell and popping his head out about as far as you see below. As the girls and I got busy chatting about something else while we sat and waited, he saw his big break and high-tailed it the 20 feet to the shrubs, leaving his dinner behind…

Thanks! He was very sweet. And brave to turn and scramble away so fast when he saw the opportunity!
Awwww what a little cutie!!! I love him!!! Too bad he didn’t stick around for his free meal lol
We moved it to the bushes where he hopefully enjoyed it in a less stressful, more private environment.
Good idea haha
