As 2011 faded into 2012 and I made the decision to launch this 365 Project, the one photo I wanted to be sure to capture was a field of wheat with a big, blue Kansas sky overhead. I didn’t grow up here Somewhere-in-the-Middle-of-the-USA, but as I visited over the course of my childhood, I always found comfort in the sight of golden waves of grain blowing gently in a summer breeze, a light rustling sound emanating from the thin stalks as they brushed together.
I was so excited to get out and shoot the wheat fields before they were all harvested that my night owl self got up at 7:00 a.m. on a Saturday to drive a ways south of town and snap pics to my heart’s content. I took a ridiculous number of shots, but here are my four favorites.
What do you think? Do you have a favorite shot below? Do you have amber waves of grain near your home?
