Although we knew better, we visited Versailles on a Saturday.  The place was packed and the parking lot was completely full.  We finally found a parking place on a side road on the far west side of the Versailles estate, but that location required us to walk nearly the circumference of the estate to enter the grand palace.  The good news was that we got to see an awful lot of the grounds of Versailles that neither of us had seen before.  The even better news was that we walked so far I didn’t feel one ounce of guilt as I drank a second glass of red wine that night at dinner!

This beautiful horse was one of the scenes we passed on our way to the main palace of Versailles.
