Chateau d’Usse: A Ridiculous Number of Step Shots
One of the most remarkable things at Chateau d’Usse are its towers. They are an important part of the story of Sleeping Beauty, written after Charles Perrault stayed at the castle. Plus they are just pretty darn cool and not something I could ever see back home Somewhere-in-the-Middle-of-the-USA where structures barely date back to the 18th Century.
I’m sorry, I couldn’t limit myself to just three…

Chateau d’Usse Stair Photo #2. And we climbed and climbed and climbed. Along the way were all of these open, “look out” windows like you see on the wall on the right.
Chateau d’Usse Stair Photo #3. After hundreds of years of use, many of the steps in the tower are wearing away.
Chateau d’Usse Stair Photo #4. The view from the top! Looking down at the spiral stairs from the very top of the last tower.

How so? The steps up to the bell tower? I could see that!
It’s crazy how stone can wear down like that! Really cool pictures, as always 🙂
