In the Renaissance, well before automobiles were invented, horses, stables, wagons, and carriages were essential to chateau life. Yet of all the castles we visited, Chateau d’Usse was the only one that showcased any of these elements in any great depth. After seeing all of the old tack displayed, including some items with the fleur-de-lis and king’s initials, we walked past several carriage examples from over the years. Back out on the path we encountered this old wagon that just begged me to take its photo.
