Paris: Front of the Metro
I can’t recall if it’s the red “A” line or the yellow “1” line, but one of them rises above ground for a bit as the metro travels eastward. As the train rises from beneath the streets of Paris, l’Arc de Triomphe is visible at the end of the track where the rider’s line of sight intersects with the horizon. I probably wouldn’t have paid any attention to what was ahead as I happened into the front car of the Metro one evening heading into the City, my head buried in a map planning ahead, but all of the youngest local riders knew what to expect and were politely jockeying for position, chattering excitedly with their parents.
I thank the little guy in the orange t-shirt for giving me a “heads up.”

Great shot – our commuter trains have a driver up front – it would be so cool to be able to see out like that.
Thanks for sharing.
It was a fun experience to stumble upon! 🙂
Wonderful. 🙂
If you ever get to ride in a double-decker bus here in Britain then you must go and sit in the front seats upstairs, the views are brilliant and I never get bored of them. 🙂
Ooooh! I haven’t been on a double-decker bus since I was a child, despite numerous trips to London since then. I will need to make that a priority for my next trip to the UK.
In other news, one of my favorite California reds is called Double-Decker Red from Tamas. Yes, the label includes an illustration of the iconic bus from your neck of the woods! 🙂
