I’ll let you in on a little secret:  I’m not a big fan of Christmas.  Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely cherish the time we get to spend with my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and nieces when they make the long trek from their warm-weather homes to the middle of the country to spend the holidays with us.  I love the additional opportunities to help others.  What I don’t love is all the decorating (and worse than that, undecorating in January), shopping for presents, and other madness that goes with the season.

But when I walked into the Union Station the other evening and saw the gorgeous old building bathed in soft, evening light and decorated to the hilt, I was mesmerized.  Soft white lights and red and gold ornaments decorated oodles of fir trees of all sizes.  It almost made me want to change my tune about the holidays.  Almost.
