2013: A Look Ahead
After recapping 2012 yesterday, here’s a look forward to 2013…
Looking forward to 2013. While I’m not sure that I’ll have the opportunity to travel quite as much in 2013 as I did in 2012, I will continue my journey as an amateur photoblogger and plan to continue taking and sharing a shot a day. Here are some of the things I want to do in 2013 (in no particular order):
A to Z Posts. From the A to Z posts that showcased my fellow photobloggers to the A to Z recap of my own work from 2012 that I shared during the month of December, these posts have been really well received. In 2013, I’d like to publish an A to Z post of other photobloggers’ work each month and then recap my own 2013 shots in December.
Take Some Formal Classes. I feel like I’ve learned as much as I can right now on my own and am enrolled in both a basics and an entry-level Photoshop class in early 2013. I am especially excited to learn more about controlling the settings on my camera (rather than shooting in automatic or relying on a series of pre-set options) and taking indoor shots.
Another Year Older. With 2012 behind me, I’m another year older (aren’t we all?) and need to continue to remember the importance of regular exercise and good eating in my life. Look for more photos of these two experiences in 2013, whether it’s my yoga mat or treadmill or more shots from trail walks as the weather gets nicer. I’m really going to need to get better at indoor shots before I can take more photos of my cooking!
Better Blogging. Along with better photography, I’d like to continue to improve my writing skills and continue to build traffic to my site. It’s also important for me to leave more comments (rather than just “likes”) on the posts of fellow photoblogger sites that inspire me, so I will need to work on finding better words than just “Ooooh! Nice shot.” so that my comments are meaningful.
Sculptures and Fountains of Kansas City. I’d also like to make significant progress on capturing the many beautiful sculptures and fountains that grace the Kansas City metropolitan area in 2013. So far I’ve captured about 25. I only have hundreds to go!
What about you? What do you hope to accomplish in 2013?

Thanks, Alastair! You know I enjoy following your blog, too. To 2013!
I look forward to your 2013 blog.
Thanks, Tux! I just visited your blog. What gorgeous photos! I look forward to following your work in 2013!
Great! Are you still doing a photo a day in 2013?
Yep! That’s the plan! 🙂
Good for you! I’m thinking of blogging 1 photo a day again, but maybe pulling out some old photos along with new ones, rather than committing to shooting every single day.
That sounds like a GREAT idea! I see many folks keep it simple by adding just a simple quote to their photo or letting the photo tell the story without any other commentary. Mixing posts like that in with those that include a few words makes it more manageable to blog daily, especially if you’re going to reshare some past photos, as well. I can’t wait to see what you decide and follow along!
Sounds like a good plan! Looking forward to your blogging year 2013 🙂
Thanks for your encouragement, Eva!
Looking forward to follow you in 2013. 🙂 Personally I hope to be a better photographer. And I also hope to feel a bit more settled down as a mother of two. 🙂
I think every mom feels that way, no matter how many children or how old they are. I’m sure you’re much more “settled” than you give youself credit for!
Love what these new year goals! I love how you wrote that you’d like to improve your writing skills, I feel I need to do that as well, but I do like tell people, “Oooo pretty photo!” HAHAHA! It’s usually the first that comes to mind, so you’ll be seeing those from me still haha 😛
You leave awesome comments, and they’re all way better than the “pretty photo” you joke about above. In fact, you’ve inspired me to do more than just say, “nice shot.” Sometimes it’s about the photography, other times it’s just relating to the shot of the photographer. Either way, if it means as much to the other photobloggers as it has me this past year, you’re doing awesomely!
YAY! That’s good to know! I’ve been trying to look deeper into shots so I can leave better, wiser, comments lol! I’m still working on it 😛 But that makes me feel a lot better! Thanks Shutterbug! 😀
