It’s My Birthday…

…and I’ll take pictures of cupcakes if I want to, especially since my employer has discontinued birthday cookies.

Before we could enjoy any of the half-dozen cupcakes I picked out yesterday to share with my family, I had to take pictures.  LOTS of pictures.  While my two teenage girls made fun of me, my son helped me with backgrounds lighting, and schlepping cupcakes from one room to another.

The shot below wasn’t the best cupcake pic in the bunch, but I wanted to try some shots with a candle.  Another photoblogger I follow shared a photo not of a lit candle, but of a candle just after it had been extinguished, and I wanted to play with that concept.  While I’m not pleased with the reflection on the dining room table, namely from the stairs and the wall, I think it still captures the festivities of yesterday as well as that it’s all over for another year.  I’ll keep working on it…
