One Thing, Three Ways: Mourning Dove
While I love the mournful coos of mourning doves, a bird that seems to be very prevalent in and around Phoenix, I often wonder if the locals find them as commonplace or even annoying as robins here in the Midwest or seagulls along the coast.
I captured an awful lot of photos of them during my recent trip. Here are three of my favorites. What do you think? Do you have a favorite below?
Dove Photo #1. A mourning dove checks me out from high up in a Saguaro cactus at the Desert Botanical Garden.
Dove Photo #2. This dove posed for quite a while on the thick branch of a joshua tree.
Dove Photo #3. These love birds allowed me to get rather close and snap several photographs of them.

I have a hard time choosing one I like better than the other. I like them all.
Thanks! If only I could capture an owl like that! 🙂
I like the 3rd one best! Very pretty.
They were so cute all snuggled up like that!
3, 1 , 2 in that order… but they are all good.
Thanks! I love how they were snuggled up in #3.
#3
I always see them in pairs around my yard, so I have to go with #3. They are such sweet gentle birds!
Apparently males and females split parenting duties equally, even when it comes to sitting with the unhatched eggs. Nice!
The third one is just too wonderful. 🙂
Thanks! I really love how they cuddled up for me!
Yes I do! #1, #2, and #3 🙂
The third one is adorable 😀
