Sea Life Aquarium Kansas City
The Sea Life Aquarium in Kansas City opened about a year ago, but we just had a chance to visit for the first time over Spring Break this past week. For a town as hopelessly landlocked as Kansas City, the aquarium was nice, but it was outrageously expensive for the experience. I’d like to go back again, if for no other reason than to practice my aquarium photos. In the meantime, this was one of my favorites from last week. Any tips for me before I attempt aquarium shots again?

KC has an aquarium now?? I definitely have to come visit soon!! 🙂 Great shot, too!
Love it! Puffer fish are so adorable.
Beautiful shot. Aquarium shots are hard because generally the light is very low and you’re shooting through glass. And the fish won’t sit still long enough to take a long exposure photo. I attempted it at the aquarium in Las Vegas last year and the only thing I could come up with was a jellyfish. You can see my result here: http://throughmylens365.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/day-254/
Oh, I’m glad someone as talented a photographer as you finds aquariums hard to shoot. I had a tough time!
I LOVE your jellyfish shot! I could sit and watch them all day long!
Aquarium shots are hard. I think you did well. 🙂
Thanks!
Nice. I’ve sent you a request to use one of your photos on my blog for one time only. I give photo credit.
FUN! I can’t wait to take aquarium pictures! Are there more of these to come?
Unfortunately, that was the only shot that was halfway worth sharing. It was harder than I thought to shoot inside the aquarium, and my six-year-old didn’t have the patience required for my learning curve! 🙂 Maybe when I visit the Monterey Aquarium this summer…
HAHA Yeah I would think it would be hard. Oooo are you heading to Cali this summer?
We will probably spend some time in Monterey for Better Half’s milestone birthday this summer.
HAHA Oh how fun! Can’t wait to see those pictures! 😀
