Hamburger Mary’s was founded by a group of hippies living in San Francisco in the early ’70s. While the original location in San Francisco closed some time ago, the spirit of the original hamburger joint — from diversity and acceptance of all to “green” choices — lives on around the country in a few, select places including here in Kansas City.

The burger that actually arrived in front of me was just about as “buxom” as what you see in the photo. I’m glad my daughter and I had decided to split one in advance!
