Painted Desert Inn
The Painted Desert Inn is a lodge in the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. It was built in the late 1930s and was operated by the Fred Harvey Company from 1947 to 1963. The building was supposed to be demolished in the mid-1970s, but protests successfully halted that effort. The building was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. It is currently a museum and bookstore.
