Three days later, after braving unseasonably cold weather, snow, and ice, we arrived in Phoenix where it was 20 to 30 degrees colder than normal but still much nicer than at home in Kansas City.

This battle-weary Monarch butterfly floated across my path at the Desert Botanical Garden, and I thought it was symbolic of our Thanksgiving adventure.  Although his wing was badly damaged by who-knows-what hardship, he still flew with ease and took a moment to soak up the sun on some beautiful flowers.
