Rustic Bridge
There are two bridges that cross man-made Stow Lake to Strawberry Hill Island in Golden Gate Park. This is Rustic Bridge, built in 1893 for the opening of the Midwinter Fair the following year. In a testament to sound engineering and materials, the bridge survived the 1906 earthquake. Today, its double arches still span the tranquil lake where boats glide and a variety of water birds and other creatures make their home.
