Copenhagen: Little Mermaid

The world famous Little Mermaid statue was sculpted by Danish artist Edvard Eriksen.  While she’s been in this spot in Langelinje Harbor for more than 100 years, she’s had some ups and downs including losing her head three times, being covered in paint multiple times, and being blown off of her rock in 2004. Despite her ups and downs, she is Denmark’s most photographed statue with more than five million snaps a year.
