Copenhagen: Leaving the Kastellet
Built in the 1600s, the Kastellet in Copenhagen is one of the best preserved fortresses in Northern Europe. Over the years it helped Denmark deal with invaders from England and Germany, but today it is primarily a pubic park and historic site. This is a view of the King’s Gate, which faces the city of Copenhagen. There is another gate on the north side of the star-shaped fortress called the Norway Gate.
