Berlin: Bird with Cool Head Feathers
Opened in 1844, with animals donated by Frederick William IV, King of Prussia, the Berlin Zoo is the oldest zoo in Germany. It was completely destroyed during World War II, and only 91 of 3,715 animals survived including a black stork.
I am not sure what kind of bird this is, but it sure has some cool head feathers!
On Today’s Date in the Past:
It’s a Black Crown Crane. This kind of bird was on the cover of my favorite animal childhood book about the Berlin Tierpark. Brings back so much memories 😉 I think I haven’t seen this guy in a long time! The Berlin Tierpark was and is the “Zoo” in East Berlin.
Good to know! I don’t think I had seen one before the Berlin Zoo!
