Kansas City Zoo: Penguins
About two years ago, the Kansas City Zoo opened a $15 million, 19,000 square foot penguin exhibit. It is absolutely phenomenal, and about once a month during the winter, the gentoo and king penguins at the Kansas City Zoo march in the plaza near their exhibit. Here are three photos from a recent visit. What do you think? Do you have a favorite below?
Photo #1. A gentoo penguin chills after a long swim.
Photo #2. A gaggle of gentoo penguins.
Photo #3. While the gentoo penguins generally walk much more quickly than the kings during the Penguin March, my photos of the gentoos came out best.
I can’t decide because I love penguins. I love all of your photos :).
Well, that’s nice! But if you REALLY had to pick, it would be that little dude in the last shot with his flippers out, strutting his stuff around the Penguin Plaza, with the complete adoration of the crowd, right? 🙂
Absolutely 🙂
Penguins are a lot of fun! I like all these shots 😊
Thanks so much!
Picture number one and two look more like the Humboldt penguin than the Gentoo.
Thank you for correcting me, Dr. Walters! (Sorry for the VERY delayed response to your comment. My house flooded last June and I’m *STILL* catching up from it.) 😦 Please check out the evolution of my blog over at EverydayWanderer.com.
