Near the Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) is Wilfred Fitzenreiter’s bronze “Three Girls and a Boy” sculpture.  Perched on a wall overlooking the Spree River, they look amazingly life-like.  Somehow I didn’t manage to capture all four characters, but thought these two shots were worth sharing.    

The island in the Spree River is called Museum Island (Museumsinsel) and is home to five different museums including the Alte Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery).  It is an art gallery featuring Neoclassical, Romantic, Impressionist, and Modern works.  This statue sits out front. As a gift to the city of Copenhagen and its visitors this summer, a collection of Steinunn Thorarinsdottir’s statues have been placed around the city. Appearing in a variety of places, from Terminal 3 at the Copenhagen Airport to green parks, her collection references spirituality, introspection, and physicality.
